NAWOU, the umbrella organization for Ugandan women’s organizations, was registered in 1992 and has more than 70 national and over 1500 communities based organizations as members. NAWOU strives to strengthen women’s movement in providing help and services to people living with HIV.AIDS, AIDS Orphans and other distressed children in Uganda and as well as to promote women’s rights and improve the sociology-economic situation

NAWOU also empowers women in rural areas including people living with HIV/AIDS, AIDS orphans through vocational trainings to make beautiful baskets, crafts, African dresses and local jeweleries to support their families and  also to be economically independent
